Shrinking economy? Not for one major cable TV company in Orange County. Cox Communications appears to be thriving. On Saturday, the cable company will host a job fair in hopes of filling around 60 openings, said Lana Ong, a company spokesperson.
At least 20 positions are in sales, with salary ranges between $50,000 to $70,000, she said.
Cox was named one of Orange County's best places to work, based on a survey of employees. Cox also offers a nice set of employee perks, according to an interview Register reporter Mark Eades had last fall with Duffy Leone, vice president and general manager of Cox Communications for Orange County.
Perks include free Starbucks coffee, a jeans-and-boot allowance for technicians, trans-fat free cafeteria food, Yoga classes and free flu shots. Read more about life at Cox at "Cox one of best places to work in Orange County."
(Interestingly, this is the second telecom company that ranked high in the OC Register's 'best work places' survey and also is actively hiring. Verizon Wireless, another winner, recently filled 170 jobs at its Irvine office. As always, Irvine's Blizzard Entertainment, another winner, is always hiring.)
Cox is hosting the job fair at its Rancho Santa Margarita headquarters on Saturday. Details below:
