POLL: What are you doing on your furlough?

June 18th, 2009, 3:00 am · 4 Comments · posted by Mary Ann Milbourn

I'm on a one week unpaid furlough this week, like thousands of other workers out there this year. At the Orange County Register, we're calling it "furcation."

wild-riversmedI'm spending the week taking care of my dear old 88-year-old mother in another town — 450 miles away. A few people I know are on a real vacation.  Most of my other friends are doing in-town "staycations." (When you say, "Non voyage.")

So what are you doing during the joy of your eight hours or 40 hours or more of unpaid time off?

So tell us ...

My husband works for the state and his "furlough" days are spent working without pay; Yep two days per month he works and doesn't get paid...eventually, the state says he'll get those days off with pay (whenever the economic downturn turns up).

Tell your husband to kiss those days goodbye. The Gov. is a thief and will screw over all state workers.

Get a vasectomy or tie the tubes! Kids are expensive!
