'Job hunting made easy' electronically? No way

April 9th, 2009, 10:00 am · Post a Comment · posted by Colin Stewart

beamme-screen-imageNew software for the iPhone, the "beamME CV" application, allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to "instantly send their CV / resume as well as electronic business card" to "anyone on any mobile phone or computer."

Cost is $9.99 or $6.99 for the unemployed after a rebate.

The application might be useful, but the headline announcing it on TMCnet.com is ridiculous: "Job Hunting Made Easy with beamME CV API on iPhone."

Job hunting is still hard work. The wonders of electronics and online job-search tools can be a distraction from putting in the time needed to establish the person-to-person networking and face-to-face interviews that lead to a job in the real world.
